Arcane Archer: The Mystical Bowmaster

The Arcane Archer is a Fighter who marries the precision of archery with the mysteries of arcane magic. These warriors are trained to weave magic into their arrows, allowing them to strike with supernatural accuracy and unleash devastating effects. Hailing from elven traditions, the Arcane Archer is a master of the bow, a seeker of the perfect shot, whose arrows whisper through the air with the power of ancient sorcery.

Arcane Archer Lore

At 3rd level, you learn arcane techniques that are essential to your craft as an Arcane Archer. You gain proficiency in either the Arcana or Nature skill, reflecting your study of magical forces or the natural world. You also learn to speak, read, and write Elvish, the language of those who first crafted the art of arcane archery.

Arcane Shot

Also at 3rd level, you gain the ability to infuse your arrows with magical effects. You learn two Arcane Shot options of your choice, which you can use when you fire a shot with a magic arrow. The number of shots you can infuse increases as you level up, as does the number of options you can choose from.

Arcane Shot Options:

  • Banishing Arrow: Your arrow can briefly banish its target to a harmless location in the Feywild. The creature hit by the arrow must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or be banished. While banished, the target is incapacitated. The target reappears in the space it left or the nearest unoccupied space after 1 round.
  • Beguiling Arrow: Your enchantment magic causes this arrow to confuse a creature it hits, making it susceptible to charm effects. The creature hit by the arrow takes extra psychic damage, and another creature within 30 feet of it becomes the focus of the creature’s charm.
  • Bursting Arrow: The magic within your arrow causes it to explode. Immediately after the arrow hits a creature, the target and all other creatures within 10 feet take force damage.
  • Enfeebling Arrow: Your necromantic magic weakens the target. The creature hit by the arrow takes necrotic damage and must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or deal half damage with weapon attacks until the start of your next turn.
  • Grasping Arrow: When this arrow strikes its target, it conjures grasping, poisonous brambles that wrap around the target. The creature hit takes poison damage and is ensnared by the brambles, reducing its speed and dealing damage if it moves.
  • Piercing Arrow: You use transmutation magic to transform your arrow into an ethereal projectile that flies through targets. The arrow passes through objects and creatures, dealing damage to each target in a line.
  • Seeking Arrow: Your arrow guides itself toward its target, ignoring cover. You can choose a target that you have seen within the last minute, and your arrow seeks out that target, moving around corners and through obstacles.
  • Shadow Arrow: You weave illusion magic into your arrow, obscuring your target’s vision. The creature hit by the arrow takes psychic damage and must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be unable to see anything beyond 5 feet until the start of your next turn.

You regain all expended uses of Arcane Shot when you finish a short or long rest.

Magic Arrow

At 7th level, your arrows count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. Your arrows become vessels of your will, imbued with the arcane energy that you wield with increasing mastery.

Curving Shot

Also at 7th level, you learn how to direct an errant arrow toward a new target. When you make an attack roll with a magic arrow and miss, you can use a bonus action to reroll the attack roll against a different target within 60 feet of the original target.

Ever-Ready Shot

Starting at 15th level, your magical archery is always at the ready. If you roll initiative and have no uses of Arcane Shot remaining, you regain one use of it, ensuring that your quiver is never empty of its most potent tools.
