Vision
The theme of the game is vision. Since it is very open concept it guys a wide range of ideas that I could use but the first thing I must decide if I should take vision on a literal sense or should I try to find more meaning in the figurative sense.
Literal
This would be playing with the vision of the player.
- Maybe take it away at some pints but that would mean I would need to have good sound effects to indicate what is happening, where they are and where to go. So, this idea could create interesting scenarios but not knowing anything about sound design means that may lead to more frustration than enjoyment. An example of this could be how among us must circle you can see, so have something like that but the circle changes beast on different areas.
- Maybe you can see through different objects so instead of the camera following the player you are seeing from the perspective of objects in the room. This would give the game this unique feel where it is you playing the character, but it is like you are watching them and this could be used to make very interesting puzzles with having to switch between cameras to figure it out.
Figurative
This would be the deeper meanings and meanings connected to vision.
- Using colour and the meanings assonated with them. A way to view vison/sight is people taking in the colours of the world. This could be that everything/everywhere as a colour assented to it and I could bring in the part of colour theory where each color has emotions tied to it. An example of this could be the newly announced life is strange game with their portray of the emotions being connected to colours.
- Being able to see what people truly are. People do hide who they truly act so being able to see what their inner most personality/self is could be fun. Though I don’t see how to make a game around this concept.
Decision
The uses of colours and their meanings is a concept that I have always loved and been interested by, so to be able to make a game around that concept would be a dream come true for me. It also brings great freedom for me to work in and still provides a solid base idea that I can look back at and know if I am on track.
