Project Eris Install

Requirements Notes
PlayStation Classic console
5v 2a power supply Make sure its not a quick/fast charger
USB Flash Drive or Micro/SD Adapter Not all usb adapters work due to the front port low power limit
(Optional) External Powered USB Hub To bypass front port power limit for install
(Optional) OTG Cable To bypass front port power limit after install

MiniTool Partition Wizard Download
Install Tutorial Dropdown
  1. Insert USB/MicroSD adapter into your computer

  2. Open MiniTool Partition Wizard

  3. Locate the USB/MicroSD adapter > Right Click the USB/MicroSD adapter > Delete All Partitions

  4. Right Click the empty partition > Select Create > Name the Partition Label SONY all caps > Change File System to FAT32 > Click ok and then Apply

  5. Extract Project Eris zip contents to the newly formatted USB/MicroSD adapter

  6. Plug the USB/MicroSD adapter into the PlayStation Classic console > Turn on console > Let it install Project Eris

  7. After install make sure your PlayStation Classic console is off and eject the USB/MicroSD adapter > Insert the USB/MicroSD adapter > Copy/backup the files/folders from the USB/MicroSD adapter onto your computer (these will be needed in step 9)

  8. Open MiniTool Partition Wizard and follow steps 3~4 again but choose NTFS or exFat for the File System

  9. Copy back the file/folders from step 7 onto the USB/MicroSD adapter

  10. Insert USB/MicroSD adapter into the PlayStation Classic console, power on, enjoy!

  11. It's highly recommended to plug your Project Eris USB/MicroSD adapter into an OTG cable after install to prevent USB corruption and power related issues

  • Use an OTG cable or external USB powered hub to prevent damaging your PlayStation Classic and/or USB/MicroSD adapter
  • OTG cables can't be used until after Project Eris installs
  • Not every USB Flashdrive or Micro SD Adapter works. This is due to the front ports only providing around 100mA. If the USB or Micro SD doesn't work try with another. Micro SD Adapter seem to require less among the two.

Network Manager

  • Must enable Network Support in the Settings menu
  • Cannot connect to wpa supplicant error: Create a ssid.cfg file with the first line with your WiFi's ssid. Second line as the password. Place file in project_eris\etc\project_eris\CFG\
  • Confirm WiFi is working by opening RetroArch > Information > Network Information

How to add PS1 games

Manually add PS1 games dropdown
Step Image
Click new game
Drag and drop your PS1 .bin/.cue/.iso/.img/.chd/.pbp rom into the filelist box
Click Edit Game & Boxart > Search game > Use the transfer info/cover buttons
Click all Auto Rename buttons > If using .bin/.cue click Edit cue file(s) > Auto
Generate Database > Generate

How to scan roms folder

Click File > Scan roms folder > RetroArch roms
Click accept for each rom
Generate Database > Generate

How to scan transfer folder

Step Image
Place your PS1 .bin/.cue/.iso/.img/.pbp roms into the transfer folder
Click File > Scan transfer folder
Generate Database > Generate

Errors

  • If you get Unhandled exception... error use Compcoms Experimental build.
  • Download > Replace exe

How to add PSX games (Transfer Folder)

  • Place your PSX games into the transfer\ folder
  • They must be in .bin/.cue, .pbp, .img, or .iso format
  • No sub folders
