FAQ - Jetup13/Emulationstation-OGA-Theme-Gallery GitHub Wiki
Welcome to the Emulationstation-OGA-Theme-Gallery wiki!
Here, I'll try to answer as many frequently asked questions about themes on OGA and its clones.
How to download and add theme
You can download a theme from github by hitting the green button Code > Download Zip
Unzip contents into your distributions theme folder. Not all folders are the same between OS distributions. For example you can access ArkOS theme folder on the EASYROMS partition themes\
folder.
You can also download themes using Theme Master by JohnIrivine1433 (if using ArkOS or TheRA). 351elec also has a theme downloader built into emulationstation.
Missing Systems
You can add systems by following the themes folder structure. Most themes either have their system images in the root folder as sperate system folders. Some themes have system images in inside folders called _art\
, art\
, inc\
, or _inc\
. Check the file format and image sizes of other images you find and follow them. There's no standard so double check with the root theme.xml if your confused.
- If you've installed a theme and it looks like this
Make sure you've placed the theme correctly in the theme folder
Folder Structure | |
---|---|
themes\themename\theme.xml |
Right |
theme\themename\themename\theme.xml |
Wrong |
- Every distribution is not 1/1 so you might need to change a few image and system folders names around to match that of your OS distribution. For instance ArkOS uses
pokemonmini
while TheRA\351elec usepokemini
Theme doesn't fit screen
Every theme in the readme should give you what each screen size is supported. Some themes either separate screen sizes as entirely different themes, must be switched using theme configurations options, or don't need any modification between screen sizes. Items still might not fit, if so you can try contacting the author and explain your issue with them.
Theme Configuration
You can change theme configurations by:
Entering Emulationstation Menu (Start Button ) > UI Settings > Theme Configuration >
You can change many options in the Theme Configurations such as: theme color, screen size, images, and other fantastic options. Not every theme has configurations and must be added by the author.
Creating themes
Creating themes is an involved process. But don't be discouraged its not hard! You can check these guides:
