Welcome to the GIS-based-Analysis-Tool-for-Disaster-Recovery wiki!

Purpose of The Project

The deliverable is a suite of ArCGIS toolkits that enable specialized operations upon multiple heterogenous datasets. The datasets are already collected, and the team will focus on user interfaces to enable users to perform basic geospatial operations upon. A particular focus will also be on developing novel user interaction capabilities by providing users the ability to interact with the data using tangible interfaces such as AR markers and augmented reality sandboxes.

Problem Being Addressed by The Project

The frequency of natural disasters has been on the uptick with catastrophic consequences for vulnerable communities. mitigating the impact of these disasters requires comprehensive analysis of a community's assets to identify critical points of failure - such as critical bridges for evacuation, low-lying regions vulnerable to flooding etc. This enables the efficient allocation of resource pre-disaster to improve that community's resilience.

Why This Project?

Empowering communities to build resilience in the face of natural disasters. Our suite of ArcGIS toolkits and novel user interfaces enable comprehensive analysis of community assets and identification of critical points of failure. With our tools, communities can efficiently allocate resources pre-disaster to bolster and strengthen infrastructure, improve evacuation plans, and enhance community recovery efforts.
