Arch Wizard

This is the highest degree that can ever be awarded, and can only be obtained at Highest University of Acaadia. No greater honour can be be bestowed upon you, at least when it comes to academic prowess.

Not only that, but there can only be a single living Arch Wizard. The exact degree you get depends on you Grand Wizard degree - that is you get Arch Enchanter if you were Grand Enchanter, and so on.

Usually, there is no Arch Wizard (unlike Grand Wizards, which are more or less essential to the University). It has been roughly 50 years since the last Arch Invoker.

Requirements

• be a Grand Wizard
• a Grand Wizard (even yourself) must initiate a vote for Archwizard
• be elected (unanimously) by all other Grand Wizards
• all Grand Wizards must be appointed
• all Grand Wizards must participate in the election

Appointment

There is no associated ceremony, but during the election, all Grand Wizards must be present in person.

This is usually done in private, but public elevation is not unheard of. Historically, this wasto remind everyone that no ceremony is needed - you are already Grand, the degree is only for yourself.

Duties

You oversee the university and the academic community. You represent it. You lead it.

If there will be problems, you will be the one to blame. The inverse also holds - should the Academia prosper, you will be praised. Grand Wizards usually hesitate to elect a new Arch Wizard, as it allows the outside word to attribute all success and failure to a single person. It sends a message, which Grand Wizards do not really want to send.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Arch Wizard Apparel, this is usually enchanted with the knowledge of all previous Arch Wizards. If if is lost, Grand Wizards tend to start over, rather than to try to retrieve the old one. However, losing it is rare event and the last instance of this happening is roughly 9 Arch Wizards ago.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Death is grounds for immediate removal of the degree. Also, no former Arch Wizard can become Arch Wizard twice.
