Main Conditions

Macular degeneration

  • Vision loss occurs in the center of the eye.
  • Vision can be blurred or fully lost in the center.

Cataracts

  • Vision becomes blurry all over.
  • "Cloudy vision".

Glaucoma

  • Vision loss from the outer edge inwards.
  • Progressive loss.
  • Tunnel vision.

Stroke

Diabetic retinopathy

  • Dark spots floating in person's vision.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Dark/empty areas in person's vision.
  • Random portions of the eye become blind.

Potential Conditions

Double vision

  • Vision appears as if the object in focus is moving side to side very quickly, thus leaving an object "shadow".
  • Similar to putting pressure onto one eye.

Starbursts/glare

  • Sensitive to light.
  • Bright lights can cause blur and 'lens blur' type problems for the eye.

Colour vision

  • Refer to Colour Blindness Section
