Diversity should be an important objective for tech companies, not only because it helps the bottom line, but because it's the right thing to do. We all need to fight our biases both conscious and unconscious to make sure that we see the truth for what it really it is, and not for how we perceive it to be.
Diversity should be a priority because it helps the bottom line [1]. What the image below is showing, is a comparison between the bottom quartile and the top quartile based on gender and ethnic diversity. The top quartile of companies with more women on the board are 21% more likely to have above average earnings. The top quartile of companies with a more ethnically diverse board are 33% more likely to have above average earnings. Diversity pays.
