Transfer Ships - JakeKen25/Privateer GitHub Wiki
Open this manager by right-clicking a nation in the main window and choosing Transfer Ships.
This manager transfers existing hulls between nations within the loaded campaign. It preserves the ship's original building nation as part of its history.
- Choose Current owner, then narrow the list with Type or Search if needed.
- Select one or more ships. Use Ctrl-click for separate rows or Shift-click for a range.
- Check the selected ship's details and transfer eligibility below the table.
- Choose the destination under Transfer selected ships to and select Stage transfer.
- Review the staged count and destination column. Use the horizontal scrollbar to reach columns on the right.
- Choose Apply, then Save or Save As.
Unstage selected removes selected pending transfers. Reset changes clears all pending transfers in this window. A staged destination alone does not mean the campaign has been saved.
The table includes hull identity, type, name, class, displacement, speed, main caliber, radar, ASW, year, location, status, crew quality, maintenance, armament, and staged destination. Click a heading to sort. Crew quality is shown as its raw saved value.
Ship status labels
| Game abbreviation | Meaning |
|---|---|
| AF | Active Fleet |
| RF | Reserve Fleet |
| MB | Mothballed |
| TP | Trade Protection |
| R | Raider |
| FS | Foreign Service |
Live unfinished ships appear as Under construction. Unknown status codes keep their numeric value rather than being assigned a guessed label. Historical losses, scrapped ships, and museum ships are excluded from transfer.
What a transfer preserves
Privateer transfers the complete hull record and copies its required design into the receiving nation's design library. It preserves the hull's permanent identity, original builder, construction state, equipment, crew data, history, and saved location. Changing ownership does not relocate the ship.
Ships received by the player remain unassigned to a commander. When a player ship is transferred to an AI nation, its commander assignment is cleared while the officer record is retained.
Carriers and other ships with aircraft capacity are blocked because of linked air-group records. Transfers involving the player are also blocked while active campaign divisions are present. Missing design dependencies can prevent a transfer.
Copying ships between separate saves and creating new hulls are not features of this window. Ship Spawner (WIP) remains a placeholder.
