Aircraft Manager - JakeKen25/Privateer GitHub Wiki
Open this manager by right-clicking a nation in the main window and choosing Aircraft Manager.
Aircraft Manager creates a new aircraft model for the selected nation. In-game aircraft validation remains pending, so use a separate campaign copy when testing a created model.
- Choose Aircraft type. This determines the role and which statistics are shown.
- Select Equivalent year (stats) before making manual changes. The slider loads stored defaults for the selected type and year.
- Set Manufacturer and Model name. Privateer is the default manufacturer; the dropdown also lists manufacturers already used by the nation.
- If the save already contains aircraft, review Saved source model. Privateer suggests a compatible existing model to supply the remaining saved fields. You can select another source and filter between Selected nation and All nations.
- Adjust the visible statistics, carrier capability, and available aircraft stock as appropriate. Scroll through the panel to reach additional fields.
- Choose Create to add the model to the loaded campaign, then Save or Save As.
Design year remains the current campaign year. Equivalent year selects defaults for the statistics; it does not advance the campaign or change the model's design date. For example, a 1920 campaign can use later fighter statistics while retaining a 1920 design year.
The slider covers the first to last recorded year for that aircraft type in the reference data, with stored entries for intermediate years. It initially selects the campaign year, or the nearest endpoint when outside that range.
Moving the equivalent-year slider replaces the editable statistics. Switching aircraft type also reloads defaults and resets the year selection. Select the type and year first, then make manual adjustments. Choosing a saved source model does not replace the visible equivalent-year defaults.
Statistics are game values rather than guaranteed real-world performance measurements. Creating a model and available stock does not create a squadron, assign a carrier air group, or change existing units.
The status text and Create/Close buttons stay visible below the scrolling editor. Create adds a model without closing the window and refreshes the saved-source list. Change the model name before creating another aircraft. Close retains already-created models as unsaved changes; use Save or Save As in the main window to write them to disk. Uncreated form edits are discarded on Close.
If the save contains no aircraft models, the manager still opens. The empty list says "No aircraft are detected in this save". Choose a type, adjust the statistics, and select Create to create the first model using built-in defaults; no saved source model is required. Creating a model does not create squadrons or unlock aviation technology. First-model creation still needs in-game validation, especially in campaigns before aviation is available.
