Context

  • Following up on some email exchanges with additional diagnostics as we move into the Overleaf. This bullet contains many small things, so it'll feel like we're jumping around a bit.

Diagnostics

  • One of the first things I did was crossmatch the 2MRS and 2MPZ catalogs. This is basically a version of the figure we currently have in the paper showing the ~300k galaxies for which we have both spec-z and photo-z, but this time limiting it to only the sources which were in 2MRS:
    • Note that I've included a few different verisons of the same plot. My hope was we can land on a nice verison of plots that show lots of data.

  • I've also looked into the WSCOS vs. 2MPZ redshifts to see if anything in particular was driving the discrepencies:
    • It's not obvious to me that there's a significant trend with the quantiies I've tested below (W1, W2, W1-W2, and E(B-V) for that source). There are some other things I could try (B-R, or logStellarDensity at the source location, but I'd expect there to be some more signal in these panels if there was anything):
