meeting 2025 05 06 n57 - JacobPilawa/TriaxSchwarzschild_wiki_5 GitHub Wiki
Context
- Revising the H15 environment calculation following the meeting on 05/05. Specifically, I am now including the blue sequence of galaxies which I had previously excluded. The result is that only one of the nearby blue galaxies is actually bright enough to make the Mk<-23.0 cut, so the results are not extremely different from what we have had.
Diagostics:
- First, here are two plots which show the full catalog of sources vs. zoomed into the central region. There are 460 sources in the full catalog, and 82 sources which make the Mk cut of -23.0:
- Note there are 70 galaxies inside the circle in the panel on the right, where the circle is drawn to our 10th neighbor which meets the Mk cut.

- This is not that pretty of a plot, but here's histograms for the full catalog along with the nearest 10 galaxies (very small histograms near the bottom of the plot).

The values I am using for H15 are thus:
- N_HDC = 86, the number of galaxies in the Agulli+ catalog which are brighter than our magnitude cut.
- nu10/nubar = 19998.28, coming from the values in the table above
- M_{Halo} = 6.1e14 from Habbas+18 which is their estimate for M200.
-
Here's the updated environment plot:
