Stats:
- D = 79.0 ± 4.0, Jensen+21 SBF
-
GMOS:
- All files seem to be on BOX.
- Has both symmetric and non-symmetric binning schemes.
- Other details:
- Files on BOX say:
- Files on BOX say +x axis of the GMOS data is at -120 deg. E of N.
- PSF listed as: avg. FWHM = 0.42" (Gaussian)
- 164 bins (symmetric)
- 158 bins (non-symmetric)
- Files on BOX say:
-
Mitchell
- All Mitchell files for all galaxies are present! There are folded and unfolded versions for everything. I'm currently sticking with our usual unfolded data.
- 27 bins (unfolded)

Stats:
- NGC 547
- D = 75.5 ± 3.3, Jensen+21 SBF
- NGC 547

GMOS:
- Lots of files are not currently on BOX it seems. Will check with Emily if they're on her hard drive.
- Seems to have both a symmetric and non-symmetric binning scheme. Likely will update the non-symmetric scheme when the files are passed from Emily.
- Other details:
- Files on BOX say +x axis of the GMOS data is at +94 deg. E of N.
- PSF listed as: avg. FWHM = 0.50" (Gaussian)
-
Mitchell:
- All Mitchell files for all galaxies are present! There are folded and unfolded versions for everything. I'm currently sticking with our usual unfolded data.
- Don't have all the data for N547 just yet, so I started with N545.
-
First, I started by reproducing Irina's results:
- Symmetric binning scheme with the associated spectra
- Using the mask on BOX which is the same as the one below.
- Table 2 of Barth+02 for the template stars.
- Uncertainties are computed with 100 MC iterations.
-
Irina lists the settings on BOX as:
Nominal settings for pPXF fits to NGC 545 GMOS data
---------------------------------------------------
Wavelength range (rest): 8420-8770 A
Template list: barthlist.txt
(15 stars from Barth et al. 2002 -- spectra are from MILES Calcium Triplet library)
Spectrum mask: /GMOS/galaxy_files/N545/spectra/N545_spectra_mask.fits
(bright sky lines and chip gaps as assessed from inspection of GMOS spectra)
Initial velocity shift: 5300 km/s
Multiplicative polynomial: degree 3
Additive polynomial: degree 0 (constant offset)
Bias parameter: 0
- With these settings, I can wonderfully reproduce her results.
- Here are some diagnostics from this reproduction.
- Note that the kinematics here are not point-symmetrized.
- These also use the symmetric binning scheme (whereas we'll likely use the non-symmetric binning scheme for the actual modeling), but I wanted to make sure I was able to reproduce her values.

- I moved straight the the Gh8Mh6 with asymmetric binning scheme since the reproduction was so clean. Again, I have the same settings as above here, but switched to the asymmetric binning scheme with the series cut off at h8 now.
