meeting 2024 04 22 n315 - JacobPilawa/TriaxSchwarzschild_wiki_5 GitHub Wiki
Context
- Gathering some for discussion related to N315/wrapping up the project.
- Two random pieces of news:
- I need to add NGC 6861 to my CO-Stellar Comparion.
- A recent paper did a similar test, comparing ALMA CO results to JAM and Schwarzschild models. They say their CO + JAM results are consistent with one another, but are larger than the Schwarzschild method found before.
Updates
- First, here's an updated cornerplot which shows (u,p,q) and angles rather than the (T, Tmaj, Tmin):

- I also haven't looked at it yet, but here's a reasonable looking enclosed mass plot:

Reminders of where we left off...
-
Up to now, we've run 4 grids of models:
- Grid A + B = uninformed sampling over a large range in parameter space.
- Grid C + D = based on rejection sampling the "best scaled" models from A + B (+ C).
- Note that, after running Cube C, we decided to move forward with "masking" the outer 4 Mitchell bins to improve the h6 modeling a bit. We decided to re-minimize only Cubes C and D since Cube A and B were not adding a great deal of information/low chi2 models.
- Also note that we initially ran 1000 dither 1 models for Cube A and Cube B, and then re-ran the best performing 866 and 729 models respectively (K=1000 cutoff if I remember correctly) with dither = 3.
-
Here are the 1d panels for our Grid C + Grid D models:
- We had run the points in black most recently, where I fix T = 0.9 and allow theta/phi to vary. I hadn't included these points in our GPR + dynesty but can do so if we'd like (it won't change anything).
- I think the 1d panels here are quite consistent with the cornerplot results.

Other Random Thoughts for Reference
Enclosed Light Profile
- Here's a comparison of the enclosed light profiles for the three MGE's for N315:
- In our last discussion with Jonelle, she had mentioned potentially following up with Ben Boizelle about a new MGE, but I don't think that exists or else we would have heard something by now.
