The visual system of our project shifted from EL (electro-luminescent) wire to and LED solution. The reason for this shift in technologies used is detailed on the [VisualEL el wire] page.
We are utilizing a 3W RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) led that is controlled by a PWM signal to transistors Each individual LED inside the package is capable of a maximum forward current of 800 mA for a brief period of time, and a running forward current of 350mA. For project, we have current limited the LED's to only allow a maximum of 350mA through the LED's to avoid excess heat and thus reduced lifetime.
