In the Numenorean period, Mirlond, Ramlond, Tharven and Gobel Ancalimon were the only settlements on the Harnen with any notable Numenorean population. All the settlements were founded under Tar-Ancalimon, save Mirlond, which had been settled under Ciryatan of Numenor as an outpost. They were founded as part of his campaign against Harad (and indeed, against the Kingdom of Ard, which had been a Numenorean province in the region).
Of these, Mirlond and Ramlond were the greater and the more populous and prosperous, with Tharven and Gobel Ancalimon more meant as military outposts inland to keep a close eye on the Haradrim of the restored tributary kingdom of Amrun. At this point was also founded the military concession of Tirith Amrun, which saw a Numenorean garrison placed near the capital of Amrun.
Generally speaking these cities were most closely entwined with the colony of Umbar, but Mirlond over time grew to have not insignificant connections and influence from the Pelargirean League.
In the last days of the Numenorean Empire, it was in these cities that Herumor and Fuinur landed with their supporters, carving their own kingdoms out of the Numenorean provincial cities as well as the former tributary kingdom of Amrun.
In the collapse of Herumor and Fuinur's kingdoms after the Last Alliance, much of the Numenorean population of Gobel Ancalimon and Tharven flee to Ramlond and Mirlond. At this point in time, Ramlond aligns with Umbar and joins it, becoming an autonomous city within the realm of Umbar. For a time, Mirlond becomes a minor independent power in its own right, dominating lower Harondor and the northern shore of the Harnen.
Even more influenced by the rising power of Gondor, in time Mirlond choses to formally join them in exchange for autonomy and privileges not dissimilar to what the old Pelargirian League recieved for swearing fealty to Isildur and Anarion. At this stage the Harnen now becomes the boundary of Umbar and Gondor, increasing tensions.
Earnil I conquers Umbar. Ramlond is incorporated into the governorship of Umbar.
