Pokémon Legends Arceus - JPCMarques/Pokeguides GitHub Wiki

Pokémon Legends Arceus (PLA) is the only mainline pokémon game that can be completed 100% solo. This guide will walk you through the complete Pokédex tasks (for maximum shiny odds). You don't need full completion if you don't want to, but at least level 10 (explained below) in every pokémon is required to get the shiny charm.

Tasks

Each pokémon has several tasks to complete the Pokédex. These tasks are very varied, and each provides you with star level experience. You will need to do these to progress through the areas and story. Some tasks may appear as "Method unknown" because they are tied with completing a side quest, which will either complete the entry or unlock the method to achieve it.

Each entry has a level - 0 to 10 - and when all tasks for an entry are completed, it will be marked as perfected. Each level will unlock more information on the pokémon, but the main interest is to increase shiny odds:

Level Extra rolls Odds
Base 0 1/4096
10 1 2/4096 = 1/2048
Perfection 3 4/4096 = 1/1024
10 + Shiny charm 4 5/4096 = 1/820
Perfection + Shiny charm 6 7/4096 = 1/586

PLA provides the player complete freedom to tackle the research tasks from the get-go, and I don't believe I should dictate the pace at which you do so. Instead, this guide will include a section for each pokémon's tasks and which pokémon you can find in each area.

For efficiency's sake, I highly recommend that, beyond your main combat Pokémon(s), you keep a set of pokémon you need to do combat tasks for, such as using a specific/agile/strong move, preferably of different types. Some pokémons have "defeat X times" or "defeat X times using Y type moves", so the bigger the variety of moves available, the better.

Suppose you don't have any "defeat X times" available but still need to use moves for tasks. In that case, it's easiest to do so at the Obsidian Fieldlands (the first open area), as the pokémons are the weakest.

Quests

For the most part, PLA's quests are simple to follow and don't require a dedicated guide. For those that do, you can find them here. This also applies to main quests; for 99% of cases, they are simply a case of "follow the map marker and do what it tells you to"
