Fatal Fury: King of fighters is a pixel-art game trying to honor the aesthetic of the japanase manga and occidental comic of the 80's/90's. Using characters of different ethnic groups and nationalities to (kinda) represent every possible buyer. The era in which the game art is based is mostly the same of the decade where the game was done but with some inspiration on the famous kung fu movies (specifically in the Pao Pao cafe, Howard Arena and Geese building). Nevertheless it also tried (like we said before) to feel like a worldwide experience so it replicated some enviroments that could be familiar with non-asian players, for example there is a map replicating the Golden Gate Bridge of San Francisco or some crowded beach.

Going back to the characters we can appreciate the big differences between them, the variety goes from a wise old kung fu master to a masked wrestling fighter or a mohawk hair styled street fighter.

If you want to check al de UI sprites you can do it here: https://github.com/JBGelsenorJ/Proyecto1-Citm/tree/Wiki_Assets/Source/UI
For explanation purposes we are going to show here animated gifs of how the level looks like, if you want to see all the layers that integrated makes the map you can check them here: https://github.com/JBGelsenorJ/Proyecto1-Citm/tree/Wiki_Assets/Source/Sprites/Stage%20Sprites
Note: If you wonder why the levels are split in layers is because of the animations and the parallax effect, in this game for example when you jump the background and the front move at different speeds so for replicating this effect we have to keep them separated until development

This cafe is owned by Richard Meyers so is obvious that you'll fight him here, this is usually the place where Duck King like to go to get a drink. The aesthetic kinda reminds to a kung fu movie scene.

On this level you fight versus Michael Max the ex-professional boxer.

On this level you fight versus Tung Fu Rue, the former master of Terry and Andy. Depending of the round you are fighting it is raining.
