AUTOMATIC PETRI PLATE LOADING MACHINE

Need statement :

Biotechnologists need to prepare media on Petri plates for culturing of microorganisms or animal cell lines. On average, for the fermentation process, a person needs to prepare 100 plates per day. Automatic Petri plate filling machine loads sterilized media into it. The machine has to move Petri plates to and from the loading site continuously

Design a semi-automated petri plate loading machine, which is Hygienic, smooth and quite (i.e. minimum noise emission). The machine should be semi-automatic.

3.4 Identify constraints

The machine should not cost more than 15,000/- and its speed must be minimum 100 plates/hour. The number of carousels (petri plate holder) should at least be 220 and of size 60mm diameter.

3.5 Establish functions

The machine should not cost more than 10,000/- and its speed must be minimum 100 plates/hour. The number of petri plate holder should at least be 220 and of size 60mm diameter. The machine should move the petri plates, dispense the media into the petri plates and also have the option to solidify the media dispensed (i.e. have the cooling unit). Also, it should display the number of petri plates filled with media and the time taken to do so.
