Justification

Design Objective Weightage Justification
1 Safety 4 Manual work to be done is less and the petri plates are placed in the trays that avoids the possibility of breaking
Extent of automation 6 The machine automatically loads the plates onto the conveyor using slider crank and media filling is also done automatically
Portability 5 Since the space consumption is more, it is little difficult to carry
Effectiveness 7 It is highly efficient as there is automation in loading and filling the plates
User friendliness 4 The machine fulfils the user's need(the user needed to load at least 3 plates per minute)
Cost 9 The design is less complex compared to reference, it is cost effective
2 Safety 4 There is little manual work to be done in between the process, it is completely safe and friendly
Extent of automation 6 it includes no manual work
Portability 5 it takes very less space and weighs less, it is easily portable
Effectiveness 7 The machine loads only one plate at a time
User friendliness 4 The loading of only one plate at a time makes it less user friendly as it consumes more time

By comparing with the datum(reference design 3), weightages are justified.

After comparing all the designs with the reference on basis of certain factors, we come to an conclusion that we can select the design 1 as it is very much effective.
