Notes

  • Membership drive

    • IF prepared to send out mailings with membership information and request to join
  • Discussion of hiring procedures at the Islandora Foundation

    • Leadership group created a RACI matrix and document to identify essential activities from staff at the Foundation; LG and ICC input sought on essential activities document
  • SOAR recap and hiring discussion

    • Overview of discussion from previous joint meeting with emphasis on opportunities and results
    • The strategy is figuring out if we're aligned on goals that are achievable and will apply the highest value to use as a community; the plan is how we get there
    • One goal to make it easier for people to contribute to Islandora
    • "If we need to bring Islandora to a state that is opinionated and flexible, what do we need on the ground to get going?"
      • Need standards that take community use cases into account; starter site as an example
      • Need agreement about initial object and associated metadata; it would make sense to link the data model discussions to Islandora 4.0
      • Need to deal with inconsistencies across installations and current status of users who just migrated into 2.0
    • There are challenges in filling all necessary roles in the community
      • Tech side often ignores need for project management
      • Need to cover roles with a combination of staff and volunteer community work without (currently) having both technical and facilitative staff
    • Need an upgrade path for Islandora 2.0 that helps to resolve existing problems from changing technical direction
