Customizing Terminology in the BMS - IntegratedBreedingPlatform/Documentation GitHub Wiki

Introduction

Since terminology can vary from organization to organization, and breeding program to breeding program, the BMS supports customization of the labels that appear in table views throughout the system.

Customizing Terminology in the BMS

The tools for customizing terminology in the BMS are provided in the Program Administration module, which is restricted to users with the Admin role. Within this module, the System Labels tab in the Manage Program Settings tool shows a list of the terms that can be customized. This view includes an ID and definition for each term and text fields that show the current label text.

To edit the terms that are used as column headings throughout the system:

  1. Click into the Manage Program Settings module. This is available under the Program Administration heading in the main navigation menu.
  2. Click into the System Labels tab.
  3. Look for the current label you would like to change, and enter your preferred term in the text box.
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

The new label terminology will take effect immediately in the BMS.

Note: the system labels are applied at the crop level. If you have more than one crop database in your installation:

  • The customized terms will apply to all programs within a given crop.
  • Customizations you make on one crop will not be applied to other crops in the installation.
