IMPORTANT: Make sure you complete Level 1 before you read this page!

Hi, this is Grafika talking! Or, um, writing I guess... I'm going to give you your rewards for completing Level 1.

First, don't cheat! If you haven't finished Level 1 yet, go back and do that! That means that you got all the way through Level 1 in the book. That means you completed the route from my Turtle House (named after my last name, Grafika Turtle... also because my house is on a giant turtle)... all the way to our school, the IncrediCoders Academy!

If you get stuck, go get help on the Level 1 Help page.

Did you go back to finish Level 1? So everyone still reading this has actually finished Level 1?

Are you sure? You finished Level 1? Well then...

Congratulations! You have completed Level 1 - Turtle Map!

Your rewards are:

  • Grafika Turtle Designs - See the process that the artists used to design illustrations of me in the book!
  • Paul's Backpack - Art from the extra page of what's in Paul's backpack. I find the strangest things in his backpack!
  • Turtle Map Game Art - See the design process of the Turtle Map art. That's the background art that's used in the Turtle Map program!
  • Level 1 Production Art - See some early storyboards of Level 1.
  • The Turtle Award - The Digital Copy of your Turtle Award!

Grafika Turtle Designs

Originally, the illustrators tried different designs to make their art look like me. They started out by giving me different hats! These kinds of hats don't really represent my adventurous personality as much as my beret does! In this example, the drew me wearing a wide brimmed hat:

Next they drew me more like an adventurous pilot, but this looked a little more like my friend, Emily Airheart (she's also a turtle):

But this design doesn't show my speed and aerodynamic self. It also doesn't show my adventurous nature. The artists switched gears and started showing more of my dynamic sense of clothing and style:

This is were the artists really portrayed my favorite beret! Here are some more sketches of me in my awesome beret:

And then this is how I look in the comics! In this example of early artwork on Grafika Turtle, Brenna illustrated Grafika standing. This art was orginally used at the end of Level 1 in the book:

Next, we have a more recent illustration of Grafika running to Paul's car:

In the Level 1 program, you command the Python Turtle to travel from Grafika's house to the IncrediCoders Academy.

The Turtle Award

Well, that's it! You did it! I hope you enjoyed the designs that our wonderful artists made of me (I'm quite an artist myself), as well as the illustrations of what Paul put in his backpack (I love looking through Paul's backpack... it's okay; he knows that I do this), and the Turtle Map art (I love that art style), the Level 1 storyboards, and well, the only thing left is to present you with your very first badge... the Turtle Award!

Here you go! Display it with pride!

Great Work! It's been a pleasure hosting Level 1 for you (or maybe with you).

Before I go, here are some projects that you can tackle next...

Next Steps

You completed Level 1 in the book! If you haven't done the two extra challenges yet, I recommend that next. You can add to your Turtle Map program and learn more! When you're done (or if you're itching to complete the next Level in the book), you can move on to Level 2, the Class Introductions program!

Take the Challenges!

  1. Challenge 1: Map an alternate route to IncrediCoders Academy. This time, you'll cross the bridge, over the lake. Be sure to stay on the road!

  2. Challenge 2: Use loops to go back and forth between my house and the school, five times. (Paul's father, Monty, has to keep going back because Paul keeps forgetting his school supplies.)

Level 2

After you're completely done with Level 1 (did you do the challenges?), then it's time to move on to Level 2! While you read through Level 2 in your book, you can check out the resources from Mrs. Scratcher, as she teaches you how to build the Class Discussion program:

I hope you had fun learning about Turtle Graphics! After all, I was named after it!

I will leave you with a spoiler though. You haven't seen the last of me! Mwahahaha!!!
