Milestone 2.2 - vCenter

Requirements

The rough steps you will take, document and test include:

• Download the vCenter to your datastore

• Run the installer on xubuntu-wan

• Create a datacenter called 480-yourname

• Add your superX esxi system to your datacenter as a host

Objective

Install and configure vCenter Server 8.0 on ESXi host and add ESXi to a datacenter.

Prerequisites

• Domain: ina.local
• DC IP: 10.0.17.4
• ESXi IP: 192.168.3.208
• xubuntu-wan IP: 10.0.17.100
• vCenter DNS record: 10.0.17.3

Step 1: Verify Prerequisites

1. Verify DNS Resolution

nslookup vcenter.ina.local

2. Configure NTP on ESXi: Click Edit NTP Settings > Add NTP server: pool.ntp.org > Save Then Services > select ntpd > start

3. Add your ESXi host to /etc/hosts

Step 2: Mount VCSA ISO on xubuntu-wan

2. Click on your xubuntu-wan VM > Edit > select CD/DVD Drive 1 > change it to Datastore ISO file > Browse > select [datastore2] VMware-VCSA-all-8.0.0-20519528.iso > check Connect > check Connect at power on > Save

4. Run the installer, in terminal

cd /media/inag/VMware\ VCSA/vcsa-ui-installer/lin64

./installer --no-sandbox

5. Select install > Deploy > accept

8. Select Tiny and default > Select datastore 2
