Barometer support

With ImpulseOSD V79.23 and higher Barometer support was introduced. Using a Barometer is completely optional. Here are the benefits of using a Barometer:

  • Smoother and more reactive altitude measurement vs. using GPS data
  • More precise 3D speed calculation
  • Smoother RTH experience

We strongly recommend covering the barometer with open cell foam - the same foam that is used for covering microphones. This will greatly reduce the effect of wind or prop wash affecting the reading from the Barometer. The following (external) Barometer hardware is supported:

  • BMP388
  • MS5611 (V84.25 and above)

The Barometer hardware must be connected to the i2c pads like the Magnetometer (SCL to SCL and SDA to SDA). Since i2c is a bus, you can connect a Barometer and Magnetometer at the same time!

There is no need to calibrate the Barometer or change any settings. You just connect it and it replaces the altitude reading and temperature reading with its sensor readings.
