Firmware: Advanced display - ImpulseRC/OSD GitHub Wiki

Advanced display options

It is not necessary to change or set these options for a great ImpulseOSD experience. However, if you think you are missing some features or are simply curious what else can be tweaked in the OSD: please continue reading.

Reduce items/labels concept

Inherited from Alex Wolf's KISS OSD FW, it is possible to configure a knob on your radio which allows you to dynamically reduce/increase the OSD items/labels on your screen. You can configure the order in which they will be displayed: turning your knob all the way to the left will turn all OSD items/labels off - turning the knob to the right will turn them on one by one in the order you have them configured.

Crosshair

You can activate a crosshair in the center of your screen which can be helpful when you try to aim at gates or gaps. There is also an adjustment to move the crosshair a bit higher and lower from its center position.

Angle aid

When flying at extreme angles between 60 and 90 degrees you can activate the angle aid feature which shows a thin line to the left of your crosshair once the angle exceeds 64 degrees. Once the thin line lines up with the vertical line of the crosshair you are close to 90 degrees - pushing it further could cause your copter to run into the ground. NOTE: The crosshair must be active to use the Angle aid feature. If you use a BF FC make sure the accelerometer is active.

Timer modes

ImpulseOSD supports 3 timer modes: RESET, AUTO and RACE. In any of the timer modes the timer is started by arming the quad and applying at least 5% throttle.

  • RESET: The timer resets every single time you disarm your quad.
  • AUTO is default: The timer stops when you disarm, and continues when you arm and apply at least 5% throttle.
  • RACE: The race timer does not stop once activated and starts blinking at 1:50 to indicate that the race is almost over.

Advanced display menu

Enter the menu (yaw left while disarmed for more than two seconds), go to SETUP and then ADVANCED DISPLAY.

  • REDUCE ITEMS: Set the AUX channel you have configured (preferably a knob) on your radio to reduce items/labels.
  • CHANGE ORDER: Change the order of the OSD items/labels. The items/labels will display in the order you set here when you turn your knob.
  • CENTER OSD: If your OSD does not appear centered in your goggles, you can fix that here.
  • CROSSHAIR: It is OFF by default. You can turn it ON, then it will show up in the center of your goggles. If you keep rolling right past ON the setting will change from -3 to +3: -3 means 3 rows higher than the center, +3 means 3 rows lower than the center. +1 seems to be the overall favorite.
  • ANGLE AID: It is OFF by default. Can only be turned ON if CROSSHAIR is turned ON.
  • TIMER MODE: Adjust the timer modes as explained above from RESET, AUTO and RACE. Roll left to go to RESET from AUTO.
  • STAT VOLTAGE: You can change from TOTAL to CELL voltage if you prefer to see cell voltage in the statistic screens
  • GRAPHICAL OSD Opens the Graphical OSD options page. Please note that older Wolf V1/V2 hardware using character based OSD chips do not support these Graphical OSD features.
