HP System BIOS Update Utility - ISpillMyDrink/UEFI-Repair-Guide GitHub Wiki

On most HP systems there is an USB flashback option circumventing the need to externally flash the SPI ROM for the purposes of recovery.

Sometimes it might still be necessary to externally flash the ROM. Luckily the HP System BIOS Update Utility makes extraction very easy; just selecting the option to copy the image to any location allows us to get to the binary files we can use for flashing.

On HP systems the firmware updates are often bundled for multiple different boards, therefore it is necessary to check for the correct board identifier (BID) close to the end of the backup image taken from the machine and selecting the appropriate file with the same name.

It should be noted that not every image necessarily contains a BID number, comparing the backup image and update image with UEFITool might sometimes still be necessary.
