The first IReNA Nuclear Astro Open Questions and Research Tools Hackathon ran on beaver island Mi in July 2025. This page was created to demonstrate what, why, and how we participated in this week long adventure. Our group worked with WinNet which is a single zone nuclear reaction network.
Relevant publications can be found in the parameter files and in the reference page of this wiki.
The goal of this work was to explore how sensitive the $\bar{\nu}$ p process or ${\nu}$ process was to Ye value. After using one parameter file we switched to a CCSN wind file focusing on r-process or neutron rich nicleosynthesis. The same study was conducted to explore the CCSN winds sensitivity to the Ye value in extreme neutrino flux. CCSN and other extreme enviroments allow for neutrino interactions to impact nucleosynthesis. The neutrino flux, densities and temperatures are higher than most enviroments, allowing for exotic nucleosynthesis.
The preset parameter file for the reaction simulation for Core Collapse Super Nova (CCSN) Winds and trajectory file coming form Bliss et al[1] can be found in the code. How to use the code and see how we did a Ye sensitivity study can be found in procedure. A sample video can be seen below.
