Project Overview - IBZAI/GMUFind GitHub Wiki

GMUFind is a web application designed to help George Mason University students find lost belongings and also return items they find stranded on campus. Its intended users are Mason students who have lost an item or found an item left behind by someone else. Students tend to post lost items on the GMU Snapchat story, but those posts do not reach everyone. Items found in buildings such as the library can be turned in at the front desk, while items found in lecture rooms, outdoor areas, or any other place without a designated collection option leave people who lost their items in these places and with no Snapchat completely clueless. GMUFind will provide a central place to post lost items and also a central place for a student who has lost an item to look if it has been reported.

Reported items can also indicate to the user whether an item has been turned in somewhere like a front desk, helping the owner know where to retrieve it. Students will have to register with an email (GMU email if possible) and create a post with a description, photo, item type, date, and location when they find a stranded item. Users can search and filter lost items by item type and location. When a student finds their lost item on a posting, they can submit a claim in which the person who posted said lost item can see their information and review it. If the student who posted the lost item approves of the claim and returns the item, they can mark the lost item post as resolved/found/returned.
