IBM Food Trust™ Message Codes

This document describes the Message Codes that are supported by the IBM Food Trust solution.

Message Codes

Message Codes provide a standardized method for all users of the IBM Food Trust solution to identify and understand messages that are exchanged across the network. IBM Food Trust supports both GS1 Message Codes and the additional IBM Food Trust-specific message codes described below.

Party Role Codes

Party Role Codes describe the types of participants that transact on the IBM Food Trust solution network. For example, Accepting Party, Buyer, Carrier, and Despatch Party are message codes that describe some of the participants on the food products supply chain.

Both GS1 Party Role Codes and IBM Food Trust Party Role Codes can be used in IBM Food Trust messages. For the supported GS1 codes and descriptions, refer to the GS1 Party Role Codes (version 3–August 08, 2016). IBM Food Trust-specific Party Role Codes, which can be used in addition to the GS1 Party Role Codes, are described in Table 1 below:
