Materials:

  • Sea salt (Instant ocean, Aquarium Systems).
  • mQ water.
  • Distilled water.
  • Filter 0,22 µm.
  • Ward’s cereal grass powder (cat. no. 944 V 8602, Ward’s Natural Science).
  1. Prepare solution 1: 2X Artificial seawater:
  • Suspend 36 g of sea salt (Instant ocean, Aquarium Systems) in 500 mL of mQ water.
  • Filter through 0.22µm sterile membrane filter.

No need to autoclave but filter under the hood and UV turned on.

  1. Prepare solution 2:
  • Warm 500 mL of distilled water.
  • When it’s almost boiling add 1,25 g of Ward’s cereal grass powder.
  • Boil for 5 minutes.
  • Allow to cool and filter through Filter Papers followed by 0,22 µm membrane filter.
  • Autoclave for 15 minutes at 121 ºC.

  1. Allow to cool Solution 2, and aseptically combine Solution 1 and Solution 2.

  2. Store at 4ºC.
