NEED STATEMENT

ROPE WALKING BOT - A bot can travel/move/walk on a rope and carry some load.

INTRODUCTION

There is a need for a robot that walks on any rope from one end to another and must carry some load from one end to another. As nowadays, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a lockdown condition everywhere. But for survival food, medicine is essential. So by using a rope walking bot can provide food, cure, or any other essentials without hand contact as it will also help reduce the spread of the virus. Also, the bot can provide the needs of the positive patients and isolate and take the treatment at home.

SOME EXISTING SOLUTIONS/MODELS :

1. CABLE CARS

Many cable cars travel in mountain areas, where roads or any regular vehicle transportation are difficult. It is a reliable method of traveling in mountain areas. It even can be used to cross rivers. It can carry up to 4 people at once.

COMPONENTS :

  1. Cable car vehicle
  2. Terminal Stations
  3. Intermediate towers
  4. Cables
  5. Plants and Machinery

2. CABLE CLIMBING ROBOT

The purpose of developing this bot is the inspection of the bridge cables. A periodic review of a hanger rope is needed for the effective maintenance of the suspension bridge. However, it is dangerous for human workers to access the hanger rope and not check the actual state of the hanger rope. With the help of this robot, they can inspect the entire bridge. And with the use of these cables, we can carry the load from bottom to top of the building or mountain.

3. ROPE WALKING ROBOT

Several different models are available for rope walking bot as some of them do not cost-efficient, and there are some disadvantages, and they won't fulfill all the aspects that we needed.

4.RopeCon

The Ropecon is one of the latest existing solutions. It transports the materials on a flat belt with corrugated sidewalls. It is meant for carrying heavy materials across the terrains etc. Doppelmayr Transport Technology develops this open. This system is the most advanced way to carry the load across. We can also transport the heaviest materials like limestones.

SOME DIY PROJECTS

  1. Paper clip bot: DIY means Do It Yourself. These are small projects or prototypes prepared by using components that are easily available at home. these are the projects made using normal home use components like DC motor and clips
