Alphabetically sorted collection of terms and abbreviations used in the Software team. Please insert new entries in the appropriate place.
- ADC: analog-to-digital converter
- BMS: battery management system, fetches and monitors battery data
- CAN: controller area network, hardware communication protocol used by Sensors
- CFRP: carbon-fibre-reinforced polymers
- GPIO: general purpose input/output, hardware communication protocol used by Sensors
- I2C: inter-integrated curicuit, hardware communication interface used by Sensors
- IMD: isolation monitoring device
- IMU: inertial measurement unit, sensor to measure force and thereby acceleration
- IO (I/O): input/output, generally speaking refers to any form of hardware interface
- Keyence: optical sensor that is used to detect trackside stripes for displacement calculations
- LIM: Linear induction motor
- M900: Ubiquiti Networks M900 Wireless Access Point, type of rocket we use
- MGT: management, used to mark commit messages for example
- NAV: navigation, subsystem and project
- Nucleo board: cf. STN board below
- Rocket: industrial wireless access point used to connect pod and base station, see cf. M900
- SNS: sensors, subsystem and project
- SPI: serial peripheral interface, hardware communication protocol used by Sensors
- SSH: secure shell, cryptographic network protocol for operating services securely over an unsecure network; used to control computers (e.g. the Pis) remotely
- STM: state machine, subsystem and project
- STN (board): Nucleo board, assorted ST Nucleoboards used for the motor controller, leviation, and interfacing with the above and other CAN devices
- TLM: telemetry, subsystem and project
