The 'Sick mother' Encounter is the 101st encounter made for the throne room, it can only occur if you allow no rabble in your court and have at least one soldier.

The encounter text is "you are visited by one of your soldiers who says word has reached him his mother is sick and he cannot afford to care for her, he asks for 100 gold coins to help"

your options are

1. Give him 1000 gold, she will never be without again! (-1000 gold)(+3 public opinion)
2. Give him the 100 gold (-100 gold)(50% chance of +1 public opinion)
3. Refuse
4. Order his mother be killed, now she will burden no-one (-3 public opinion)(chance soldier joins the rebels)(-1 soldier)
5. To the Dungeons with him! (+1 prisoner)(-1 soldier)(-3 public opinion)
