The 'Farmer Patrol' encounter is the 80th encounter in the throne room, it can only occur if public opinion is 10 or higher and rabble is allowed in court.

the encounter text is "you are visited by a farmer who says his and neighbouring land is unprotected and that several bandits have threatened to raid it, he requests security"

1. Give him 100 gold to hire a mercenary (-100 gold)(50% chance of +1 public opinion)(raid odds 2) if you don't have the gold (raid odds 1)
2. Give him one of your soldiers (-1 soldier)(raid odds 3)(50% chance of +1 public opinion) if you don't have a single soldier (raid odds 1)
3. Give him 1000 gold to hire a band of mercenaries (-1000 gold)(50% chance of +2 public opinion)(raid odds 4) if not enough gold (raid odds 1)
4. Give him nothing (raid odds 1)
5. To the dungeons with him (+1 prisoner)(raid odds 1)(50% chance of -1 public opinion)

Once the encounter is dealt with the game will simulate what happens at the farm, it's random but the higher the raid odds the smaller the likelihood of anything going wrong.

• You get something like this "you later receive word that the undefended farmland was raided"
• or "you later receive word that the farmland was raided but the hired mercenary was able to fend them off" (50% chance of +1 public opinion)
• you later receive word that the farmland was raided and the mercenary band and the farmer were all killed
• you later receive word that the farmland was raided but the hired mercenary band was able to easily fend them off
