Throne Room Bard - Huw2k8/warsim GitHub Wiki

The bard encounter is the 83rd encounter in the throne room, it has no requirements but it will almost never occur if you have a relation of -75 or worse with the musicians guild.

The encounter will generate a random musician from a list of the following

  • Vampire Bard
  • Lute Bard
  • Elven Lute Bard
  • Orcish Grunter
  • Gnome Whistler
  • Goblin Drummer
  • Human Clicker

Once it has chosen a musician it will give them a randomly generated backstory as well as generating a length of song and skill level of the musician, the musician skill varies from 4 to 159. with each point having a slight effect on the speed at which they play their instrument.

The skill chart is as follow

  • (4-20) Beginner
  • (20-40) Novice
  • (40-60) Not-Bad
  • (60-80) Decent
  • (80-100) Pretty Good
  • (100-120) Expert
  • (120-140) Master
  • (140-160) Elite

Songs can range in length from 5 to 54 in size, each number here represents a sound effect played by the bards, so a 5 length song would be five notes, very short.

Some bards may charge for their service, their cost is made up of a random number between 1 and 20 multiplied by their skill level multiplied by (length/5) so for example, a novice with a skill of 25 and a song with a length of 15 could go like this, 10 * (25) * (15/5) = cost of 750 gold for a performance, each performer will also have a limit of the number of songs they will play, so you can only have so many encores, with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 5

With all the technical aside you get a few options

  1. Pay for the performance / listen to the song
  2. Ask of his origins
  3. Ask his name
  4. Offer to hire him as a member of staff
  5. Refuse to hear the song
  6. To the dungeons with him

if you have reached a limit on the number of times a bard will play for you, you can do the following

  1. Offer 100 gold to play again (accepts and plays one last time (-100 gold) or refuses)
  2. Offer to hire him as a member of staff (accepts and tells you what wage he wants) or refuses) +5 relation if hired
  3. To the dungeons with him (+1 prisoner)(50% chance of -1 public opinion)(-10 musician relation)
  4. Let him leave

after a performance you can do the following

  1. That was a great performance (=1 musician relation)
  2. That was such a great performance (pay a bonus of 50 gold)
  3. RANDOM INSULT (1 of 20)
  4. That was acceptable
  5. Remove him from your court
  6. Let him leave your court
  7. To the dungeons with him

In regards to insults and positives some bards can handle the insults better than others, and this impacts the relation game, with well received compliments as a +2 to relation and bad insults as a -2 relation.
