Who regulates radio and radio frequencies?

What Frequencies are we permitted to use?

Here are the radio frequencies we CAN use without an FCC license:

  • Citizens Band Radio Service (CBRS)
    • Used for short distance communication
    • Operates on 26.965 MHz and 27.405 MHz
    • Most commonly used by truckers
  • Family Radio Service(FRS)
    • Used for Walkie talkies
    • FRS 2 way radios have 22 channels (that operates on the 462-467 MHz range)
    • FRS works best in urban applications
  • Multi-Use Radio Services (MURS)
    • Radio used for walkie talkies
    • Operates on channels 151-154 MHZ frequency range
    • works better in rural areas
