Go to vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config
- find PermitRootLogin and change yes to no
Changed to no
TROUBLESHOOTING: to actually have any failed log in attempts I had to sign out of the hannelore directory and try log in in as root a few times. That way I actually had some failed log in attempts in the logs
Deliverable 2. Figure out how to determine what root’s uid (user id) is. What is it and based on the logs, what logic is used to prevent root's login?
The roots User ID is zero. I would assume that preventing the roots login means that any user with the UID of zero will be returned as false and this blocked from logging in.
