Wi Fi Pineapple - Hsanokklis/2022-2023-Tech-journal GitHub Wiki
A Wi-fi pineapple is a device created by Hak5. It is a wireless auditing platform that allows for penetration testers to conduct penetration tests on a company's network. It can also be used as a rouge access point to conduct man in the middle attacks. It is cheap and easy to use which allows those with little experience to collect sensitive information. It is called a honey pot when used for penetration testing purposes. It is called an evil twin or pineapple sandwich, when used to conduct a man in the middle attack. The pineapple sits between a users laptop and the network(almost like a router), and inspects the data that flows between the two.
- Hackers are able to use a raspberry pie with the pineapple.
- firmware is based on OpenWrt(Linux OS).
- storage is volatile.
When the pineapple is connected to a network it can create a fake "network" that people can connect to. A person connected to the pineapple won t know unless they check the device settings. There is really no way to tell is a pineapple is eavesdropping on a network, so make sure you are connecting to secure networks. You can avoid getting hacked by a pineapple by:
- staying clear of public networks when possible
- Using a VPN
- Using wireless data
- Use secure websites (HTTPS)
- When not using wi-fi turn it off.
