Packet Tracer is a tool that allows you to simulate real networks. It has 3 main menus that you can use for the following:

Add devices and connect them via cables or wireless

Select, delete, inspect, label, and group components within your network
File menu
Pre-made protocols and samples to use
Preferences
lets you customize your user experience. Can be found under Options.
Main toolbar
Includes icons such as, Undo, zoom in, zoom out
Secondary toolbar
Includes icons such as select objects, delete objects, include drawing object
Logical and Physical Workspace toolbar
Logical - How devices are connected and how data will flow through the network
Physical - How the devices are laid out and connected
Bottom blue bar
The button on the far right speeds up the simulation so you don't have to wait for the devices to complete what they are doing. The other button powercycles the devices
The realtime button is the real time of what you are doing. The Simulation allows you to control the time/add packets and watch them travel across the network
Network Components
You can select routers, switches, PCs, and cables to connect the devices
Scenario box
Can create packets on the network and be able to see the packets when they are traveling on the network
