Lab 7.1 Deliverable 1 - Hsanokklis/2022-2023-Tech-journal GitHub Wiki
Summary: Practicing VLSM subnetting by creating a table of hosts and addresses for 6 different LANs
7.1 Planetary Pharmaceuticals VLSM
💡In the Peter Packet Video, Peter and Pixie used Classful Subnetting without regard to the number of hosts in each subnet, leading to inefficient IP allocation. We are going to clean up their mess by appropriately allocating subnets using VLSM. Henry, Peter and Pixie were fired and you are now the Network Admin.
Background
PPC uses the private class B space of 172.16.0.0/16. Currently all hosts are on the same network which is causing hate and discontent due to network performance impacts (hence, the sacking of Henry). Here is some information which may help you in designing your subnet scheme.
Mumbai Divisions
- Manufacturing will need 612 hosts
- Engineering will need 31 hosts
North American Divisions
- Sales is the largest division with a host requirement of 1200
- HR needs 10 hosts
- Accounting will need space for 24 hosts (note gateways are part of this number too)
Complete the following table review lecture slides and charts
172.16.0.0/16
- order your subnets from largest to smallest(this will keep track of boundaries)
last number is groups of 256,how many times does 256 go into 2048
