Z Probe

Overview

The Odin One MK1's auto bed leveling system uses an inductive sensor to probe the bed for accuracy. This sensor detects accuracy by probing the aluminum heat bed in several locations creating a correction matrix. This probe is powered by the 12v auxiliary bank of the control board and signals to the z-min end stop pins.

The probe is standard equipment and has a functional power range of 6-36v— we use a voltage divider to limit the current draw of the probe, this process is described below.

Configuration

Wiring the probe

The probe itself has three color coded wires, they are as follows:

Blue Black Brown
Ground Signal +12v

The voltage divider is created by adding two resistors (10k, and 15k in this case) in the following configuration.

Note the orientation of the resistors and the termination location of each cable.

Terminating ends

The three wires are terminated using female DuPont terminals that can be connected to the pins on the board.

The brown cable is terminated to a single pin female DuPont terminal — connecting to a +12v auxiliary pin.

The Black and Blue cables are terminated to a two pin female DuPont terminal = connecting to the z-min signal and ground pints.
