For Starters... Congratulations on your newly acquired [Miyoo] Handheld device.
Basic Setup guide, [hardware mods] follows below.

Desktop tool for Onion https://github.com/schmurtzm/Onion-Desktop-Tools/blob/main/README.md
- Start a download of a [Romset] from internet archive, it will take time, .et it run in the background while you do the following things...
- Start a download of your chosen [OS], im assuming [Onion OS] for the rest of this... Impromptu guide.
- Download Rufus (free). To prepare the [SD-Card] for the [Miyoo]
- Put your [SD-Card] into your PC
- Open Rufus and choose the settings as follows. Format as fat32, no boot image and format the [SD-Card]
- Check the [firmware] of your device (settings-device info) and upgrade if below 20230505** on the [MMP], 20220419**** on the [MM v.2]. ( be aware of 20221216**** and 20221224**** and fix with community patch ). addendum: Since v4 firmware is now a thing and Onion has detection for it, its highly recommended to make sure that if you're running a v4 screen, matching firmware is installed.)
- Pick an OS of your choice. For instance Onion 4.3.0. Download it (assuming you havent done it yet) and drag and drop its contents onto the SD-Card/
- Eject the SD-Card from your pc and put it into the device/ Miyoo and let it do its thing. Takes but a short moment to initialize/ install itself fully to the SD-Card.
- When its done, youre left with onscreen choices of which systems you intend to play. This... "Start Wizard" can always be run again (APP/Package Manager), so dont worry too much here. Usually just pick all the verified choices. And under Apps, you can choose what you feel like, but i suggest the Onion Ota Update if on MMP. Now you have a few choices of how to put your Roms on the Miyoo. If you feel fancy, then enable wifi. and use an ftp client like samba or something like it... Or if you have a big rom set from the get go, plug the SD-card back into your pc and transfer your chosen Romset over. Regarding premade Romsets, they usually come with [scraped] art for their games, and are in correct folders. Just use some Google-Fu magic (please use something else but google though) and you will get hits on which rom sets and where.
After your basic software is all setup, its time to go nuts in modding your Miyoo and accessorizing it with all manner of stuff.
Buttons like the [ABXY], [Better Shoulder Buttons], [D-Pad], [Start/Select/Menu] etc. or changing out the [Speakers] for a more powerful one.
And with all that hard work, better get some Protection, whether it be hardcases, softcases or something entirely else. Take good care of the screen.
For more advanced users there is the Drastic (included in Onion, Koriki) emulator for NDS titles. And there are a choice of expert [Emulators] to play with aswell.
