Building EVO 4 Competition - Hoglet/HPD_F1 GitHub Wiki
EVO 4 Competition is under development as is this instruction:
Before starting to build you should consider that this model can be used as a parking lot basher, a competition racer or something in between.
You do not need adjustments of camber or a differential when driving for fun. So you can use the non adjustable upper arms (2 turnbuckles less) and threaded rods for steering linkage and the simple printed rear axle provided.
You might still not need camber adjustment but you should use a better rear axle. Either you buy a third party differential axle or you print and manufacture your own with carbon tubes. Different bearings are needed for all those choices. You also need to print the motor mount in something heat resistant as motors are getting hot during competitions, but you probably already knew that.
For a the basher then more impact resistant PLA is recomended (Esun PLA+ and Polymaker PolyMax are two great alternatives)
For competition you should consider to print the most exposed parts in something stronger like Prusament PC blend.
Note: This list contains "hex" screws but you may use equivalent torx, philips or other system of your choice. Lengths are also more of a recommendation, you may often use longer or shorter screws.

2 | M4x20 counter sunk screw | ISO 10642 | For mounting front wing |
2 | M4x25 Hexagon head screw | ISO 4017 | For front axle |
2 | M3x35 Hexagon head partially threaded | ISO 4014 | King pins. You might use equivalent socket head screws instead |
7 | M3x14 counter sunk screw | ISO 10642 | Pod swivel mounting and steering linkage |
50 | M3x10 counter sunk screw | ISO 10642 | |
2 | M3x12 button head screw | ISO 7380 | For mounting rear wing |
2 | M3x20 button head screw | ISO 7380 | Side spring adjustment |
6 | M3x10 socket head screw | ISO 4762 | Smooth outside, not serrated! Ensure socket cap heads for front arm pivots are to specification and have a diameter between 5.32 - 5.5mm, smaller will result in excess play |
8 | M3x16 grub screw | ISO 4026 | For side shocks and droop adjustment |
1 | M2x10 socket head screw | ISO 4762 | Pod stabilization screw, buy spares as they might bend |

- Put balls in their sockets. See to it that balls can move smoothly, see "binding balls" for help. If the ball still binds then you can use a ball screw ( Traxxas 1942 package comes with two) with a Dremel to enlarge it somewhat.
- Reaming of upper suspension mount: This can be done by using a M3 socket head screw and a dremel.
The EVO 4 Competition is based on experience of the EVO 3. So looking at the previous videos will probably be enough. If not contact me/us on Discord.
