About - Hidendra/Plugin-Metrics GitHub Wiki

When first created, there was not a detailed statistics collection service, only basic ones. As the author of LWC, I wanted to use one but at the same time wanted to be able to easily expand and also have nice, graphed stats.

To combat this, I began creating a system that would support multiple plugins. I did not want to be the only one to be able to utilize this and also making it open allowed me to get feedback and do things I would not have done otherwise.

Being fully open source (both the plugin end and backend) was the only option and any other options were never considered. This gives both plugin authors and server owners a sense of security in the fact that they can review the code that their plugins are randomly submitting data to themselves. While this does open the option to run your own version of the backend, it may not be feasible to do so.

So, why should I send to you?

Metrics provides the opportunity for you to view useful statistics about your plugin based on server numbers, player numbers, server countries, and what could be most useful, your own data -- you can send your own data to Metrics and the backend will graph it for you.
