Membership function

  • Transfer human understanding to machines
  • Membership functions are subjective
    • Can use neural network to represent the function
    • These are not probability functions (it is the degree of belief)

Terminology

  • Core
    • For x values that gives fuzzy values of 1
  • Crossover points
    • For x values that give fuzzy value of 0.5
  • $\alpha$-cut
    • A cut cross the fuzzy value to obtain values of x
  • Support
    • The 2 points for x values that give fuzzy value of 0
