The data collected previously is analyzed to help the selection of techniques for feature retrieval. This sub-process repeats for each technique considered to be included.

Select Techniques Sub-Process

Select Candidate Technique

A retrieval technique is selected to be analyzed. This selection is made based on artifacts from the documentation set, (e.g., team members experience with the technique)

Analyze Technique Practical Examples

Analyze practical examples of the technique found in the literature. These examples are cited in the technique description in the guidelines section.

Compare Technique Recommended Scenarios with Current Scenario

Compare if the scenarios of the practical examples are share similarities with current scenario.

Check Product Artifacts with Technique Artifacts

Check if the product artifacts available match with artifacts used for the technique. Technique artifacts are found in the description of each technique in the guidelines section.

Include Technique

If the technique qualify to be used for feature retrieval, it is included to be assembled in future activities.

Analyze Related and Support Technique

Analyze if related or support techniques should be considered as candidates to be analyzed. If they are considered this whole sub-process should be re-executed.

Register Decision and Reasons

The decision to include or not the technique and the reasons to do so should be registered in a document.
