Welcome, Seeker of Destiny.
This guide is your comprehensive companion to the Authoria - Requiem Reforged modlist for Skyrim. It provides essential information to help you navigate the early game, understand the systems and mechanics at play, and fully enjoy the carefully curated experience this list offers.
Whether you are a first-time player or a returning champion of Tamriel, this guide covers everything from character creation and combat mechanics to questing and troubleshooting.
- Remember that you can always check the keybinds by pressing the F11 key on your keyboard.
- Extra controller keybinds for combo inputs and wheeler menu can be viewed in the Complete Controller Setup MCM Menu.
Authoria - Requiem Reforged uses Requiem as its core gameplay overhaul.
If you are new to Requiem, watch this video first:

Mods customization: Scroll the on the left panel of mo2, you will find a Customization separator followed by things you can customize in the modlist:

All the customizations MUST be made on a new save file!
Controller Setup:
- enable every mod in this separator if you plan on playing with a controller.
Skyrim Souls RE:
- Disable everything in this separator if you want to bring back pausing of menus.
Slip of Slopes:
- Disable this to prevent ragdolling when falling from heights.
Racemenu Presets:
- Add the presets you want to use here.
Outfit Distribution Customization:
- Authoria - Bodyslide Output - Vanilla -> Enable this if you want all clothing to use vanilla models.
- Authoria - Custom Outfit Distribution -> Disable this to disable outfit distribution to NPCs (NOTE: This will disable ALL modded armor integration into the game, you probably won't find any modded armor pieces)
NeverNude:
- Disable the mods in here if you are planning on adding NSFW to the list.
ENB Presets:
- Pick your Preferable ENB Preset, Make sure to disable Cabbage ENB then clear overwrite, more options will be added in the future.
Reshade:
- Enable everything in this seperator if you want to use Reshade.
Vanilla Skill Leveling:
- Enable the mod inside this seperator to use vanilla Skill leveling instead of static skill leveling.
Difficulty:
- Easy mode Settings -> Enable this mod to enable Requiem Lite, this is VERY recommended if this is your first requiem playthrough.
- Hard mode settings -> Enable this to play on higher difficulty, this entails harder survival elements, more aggressive enemies, harder Dragons etc.
IMPORTANT: You will be notified in game to pick your difficulty as well, your choice in game HAS to match your choice in mod organizer.
Changing anything in the customization tab is considered NOT save safe.
Once you're done, set your CPU affinity in mo2, make sure Authoria - Requiem Reforged is seleted in the drop down in mo2 and run the game.
- It is recommended to have a build in mind before starting character creation, a lot of choices during and after character creation depend on the build you want to play with.
In addition to Requiem, Authoria uses Requiem - Races Redone. Please check its details on its Nexus page
After selecting your race, you will be prompted with messages that will run you through initialization.
Flow order:
- First welcome message
- SkySigns runs (pick your birthsign)
- Biggie Traits runs (pick your traits)
- Starting Choices runs
- Difficulty selection
- Final message appears → movement enabled
Starting Choices has been modified to contain mainly Starter Kits:
There are currently 8 Starter Kits , with one of them being locked behind easy mode, the items given by the starter kit are displayed in the item's description.
Authoria uses Archon as it's Religion Framework https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/160141?tab=description
Authoria uses Birthsigns Redone:
Once you select your birthsign, you can only interchange it with the same group.
- Select your season: you can select which season to start in in this mcm.
- Sunhelm: you can tweak survival aspects in this mcm (Hunger rate, Thirst rate, and Fatigue rate).
- Frostfall: you can tweak Cold rate from this mcm.
- Smoothcam: you can select your prefered smoothcam preset in the Presets tab.
- TK Dodge: to assign your dodge key.
- One Click Power Attack NG: to assign your power attack key.
- Navigation Restrictions: to enable compass and map mechanics.
- Sunhelm Auto Eat and Drink: self-explanatory
Modded armors and weapons are NOT craftable.
Each armor has been integrated into the world. You will need to:
- Buy them from merchants
- Loot them from bandits
- Find them in new chests found in dungeons
A full list of modded armors/weapons and where they are can be found here
Combat has been completely overhauled with:
- MCO
- TK Dodge
- Simple Timed Block
Notes:
- To unlock dodging you need the corresponding perks in the Evasion or Heavy Armor perk tree (does not apply to easy mode).
-
Once you have completed character setup, press O (the key under backspace) and select a preset of your choice from the menu that appears.
- You may change presets as much as you like.
- If your clothing/armor fails to resize correctly, re-equipping it should solve it.
-
You can change body shapes for NPCs in the same way:
- Target them at close range and press O
- NPCs are assigned body shapes randomly from the available presets when first encountered, so the same NPC may look different between playthroughs.
Vanilla leveling has been replaced with:
- Experience (XP gained from exploration, combat, and quests)
- Static Skill Leveling (skill points spent manually at level-up)
This means:
- No more grinding skills like smithing or lockpicking
- You are free to play naturally without being penalized for your actions
Optional:
- You can enable "Authoria - Enable Vanilla Skill Levening" in MO2 to disable static skill leveling
- No extra steps needed
- Requires a new save
This list includes expansions of many vanilla quests as well as quite a few new ones.
Most of these can be explored simply by encountering them through normal gameplay, or you can check the quest list in Mod Organizer to see if there's something you want to make a point of seeking out.
- Many new quests will activate organically during exploration.
- For guidance or spoilers, you can:
- Check the installed mod list in MO2
- Look through the “Quests” category to see what’s been added
