Windows 2016 server Configuration

DFS

Distributed File Systems are a method of storing and accessing data accross multiple computers. The data is replicated across each computer, similar to how mirroring in a RAID array works.

Process

Install the file-server role on dfs1 and 2.

Install DFS Management Tools feature as a Remote Server Admin tool for file services on MGMT01.

Add the two server roles DFS Namespace and DFS Replication for file and storage services on MGMT01.

Add DFS Replication server role to both DFS1 and DFS2. Open the DFS Management Console under file & storage services on MGMT01.

Notes

If presented with kerberos error on server manager when attempting server refresh, try to log into dfs as a domain admin. If that works then reboot the servers.

This occurs if you are using a local Administrator account on MGMT. It will cause many problems in the future if you dont sign in as a domain admin. SIGN IN AS A DOMAIN ADMINISTRATOR, NOT LOCAL FOLATER::windows server conf
