Pumpy How to buy - HenriquesLab/NanoJ-Fluidics GitHub Wiki

How to buy

Our Lego design mixes normal Lego bricks with Lego Technic parts. There is no single Lego set that one can buy and contains all the required parts. Additionally, the Lego Technic parts are usually only sold in sets, which makes buying the parts only slightly difficult.

Parts list

Please read the Lego parts section before reading ahead.

Our Files section contains 3 parts lists:

  1. The parts required for a single pump
  2. The parts required to make a support plate
  3. The parts required to add multiplexing suports to each pump

To make a single pump or pump arrays that will not be stacked vertically, only the parts from lists 1 and 2 are required. To make pump arrays that can be stacked vertically, parts from the list 3 are also required.

Where to buy

Buying new from Lego

All of the parts from lists 2 and 3, as well as most parts from list 1, can be bought new and directly from Lego's Pick a Brick online store. Our lists provide you with the Design ID codes which will enable you to find all the parts. Unfortunately, Lego Technic parts are not available to buy directly. (these are marked on list 1).

Buying Lego Technic parts

The required Lego Technic parts can be bought from online Lego marketplaces such as Brick Owl and Brick Link. These are not exactly online shops: they are websites where Lego enthusiasts from all over the world buy and sell new and used Lego parts. Parts from these websites can be cheaper than directly from Lego and our experiences of buying parts from these marketplaces have been good. However, justifying the expense claims can be tricky ;).

Brick Owl wish lists

To make it easy to buy the parts which are not available from the Pick a Brick store, we've made a public Wish List on the Brick Owl website. These allow you to buy all the required parts in one go, without having to enter each single item one-by-one.

Buying parts on Brick Owl or Brick Link can have some disadvantages:

  • Part availability is largely random
  • Some parts can be more expensive than from Lego.
  • The sellers listed on the website may not have all the required parts, requiring one to buy from several sellers, each with different shipping costs and purchase minimums

However:

  • Just as they can be expensive, parts can also be substantially cheaper than buying directly from Lego.
  • There are more colour choices for the parts, if that is desired.

If you want to buy all parts from Brick Owl, we've made the following public lists:
